Being Polite While Adding Value

Sorry for the blurry image…. I did a keynote last week at a real estate conference where I talked about the difference between being polite and being polite while adding value.

Today, an example of an ai chatbot communicating with leads came across my desk. I would say this chatbot is polite and doesn’t add value. I see this a lot from humans who aren’t sure what value to add. They default to, “I’ll just be polite and hopefully the lead will remember that I’m polite”.

REALTORS®, remember it’s up to us to bring value to the conversation based on what you know about the lead. If you don’t know anything, it’s perfectly fine to make educated guesses based on where you advertise, what you have listed, etc. In addition to being polite add a extra level of detail to showcase your knowledge. A valuable nugget could be about…

  • the area they are looking in
  • the house they are interested in
  • the market dynamics for the community
  • the process of buying (or selling)
  • the emotional journey of transacting

The ai bots aren’t doing this… yet.
